The Elizabeth Kelly Foundation (EKF) is named after Elizabeth Kelly, a devoted and much loved librarian of the original library in Almonte. Established in 1985 to provide financial support to enhance library facilities and programs in Almonte, today the Foundation supports literacy and learning across Lanark County.
Financial Support for Literacy and Learning
The Foundation provides supplementary financial support in the form of matching funds to registered charities, including libraries and schools and to non-profits and individuals for innovative programs and initiatives that contribute to life-long learning by advancing literacy, creativity and education for residents in Lanark County. Beginning in 2024, the Foundation works with high school representatives to provide bursaries to encourage and assist youth resident in Lanark to pursue post-secondary education and training.
Governance
The Foundation is a registered charitable (not-for-profit) corporation in Ontario, Canada. It is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected annually from its Membership. The Board meets, as required, throughout the year.
